Old Faves, New Faves, AFK, CRNKN, and TropKillaz

Got three more songs for you tonight.  First off, old fave.  Chains Hang Low (AFK VIP).  AFK and Crizzly were the artists responsible for the first remix of the Jibbs joint and AFK came back like unfinished business on this VIP.

Then there's a new, interesting happy trap vibe from CRNKN (please don't go running around trying to start a happy trap genre, its not gonna happen, you're gonna make a fool of yourself, I'm a blog writer, I know what I'm talking about).  Seriously, I got nothing better than happy trap to describe this.  Like I bassface and throw my elbows up, but a smile (like one of those stupid smiles that makes you look goofy as all hell) breaks through every time.  Just dig it.

Then, a name I never really gave a chance wow'd me hard (pause).  Seriously though, Tropkillaz, for lack of better terms, killed this one.  N.A.S.A did a fantastic job on the original, and Tropkillaz did it more than justice.  Now its the theme song of the new Sonos commercials.  How's that for killin' em.

and as always, fo free, Enjoy!

MARA, Carnage's possibly perfect festival trap banger

Why, you may ask, would I make a claim such as that? Because you have to listen to the whole song in its entirety.  Because in one song its a story.  Because if you stop at any time throughout this song, you have missed a key plot point in the story.  It might sound like a Beatport Top 100 track, and if it reaches that fame, I will be more than happy for Carnage.  But the synth is amazing, the first drop is pretty boss, but the story doesn't climax until three minutes in.  You'll just have to listen to understand that part.

But it doesn't end there folks.  Instead of just dropping of with a generic outro, summing the song up in a metaphorical paragraph, he writes an epilogue to this story.  As I listened to the outro, I could imagine the next song being faded in with a proper outro to fade out this wonderful Mara.

And its free, to boot.  The piano is also pretty nice. Enjoy!

Oh My Murda. DJ Sliink and DJ Fresh Direct Murdered Murder

Ok, so I'm definitely doing a back to back DJ Sliink post but this time he's back with DJ Fresh Direct with a "Welcome To Jamrock" sample.  Fire.

This is one of those posts where I can't do the song justice.  So just listen.  And download.  As always, Enjoy!

DJ Sliink slays 'em with Kanye's Blood On The Leaves Remix

I haven't hit the download button that hard in a long time.  Kanye West released Yeezus over the summer setting a new standard for experimental hip-hop with artists like Hudson Mohawke & THE Daft Punk producing a majority of the album.

One that stood out was Blood On The Leaves produced by Hudson Mohawke, half of trap super group TNGHT.  The sample, the horns, the everything just made an amazing track.

Then everyone started remixing joints like New Slaves and Black Skinhead.  Notable remixes are Brenmar's New Slaves Club Edit, DJ Snake's New Slaves Remix, and Alex Young & Royal's Remix of Black Skinhead.

Kanye West - New Slaves (Brenmar Club Edit) for my dj's by BRENMAR

Kanye West - Black Skinhead (Alex Young + Royal's Horny Edit) by Alex Young*

And in the last 24 hours, #JerseyClubKing DJ Sliink released a massive Jersey Club Remix of Blood On The Leaves.  Although the original is in and of itself an amazing track, DJ Sliink did his thing, and damn, did he do it right.  Check it out here:

Cashmere Cat does, I think. I don't particularly.

So there's this singer called Miguel.  You've probably heard of him.  Quickie.  Sure Thing. Adorn? Okay, you get the picture.

So there's this song called Do You... and its pretty awesome.  A nice acoustic Miguel joint.

Cashmere Cat then decided to make one of the illest remixes in the game right now.  Normally I'm like eh, this remix is pretty good.  Naw, screw that noise.  Flosstradamus was like "ay, do y'all like drugs?" and I was like HYFR I DO!  You gotta listen to this song just to understand what I mean.

And as always, Enjoy!

Innovation: Edgewoode, Kennedy Jones & Soul Define

I don't mean to diss the trap game.  Trust me, I'm a fan.  Flosstradamus had me sweatin' through my jeans.

But, originality is lacking.  With the multiple collaborations, duos, and vast inspiration from multitudes of artists, I find it odd that after awhile it all starts to blend.  Even for me.  That's when these gems start to shine bright like diamonds (okay, I'll stop now).

That all being said, today I was impressed with these new songs that stepped way out of the norm.  First, Edgewood, Mayhem's side project (as I understand).  Treasure Fingers, the original artist, released Cloudlife to the masses as this funky house smooth groove.  Check him out for the original.  But this remix is something else. Simply put, funky glitch-hop with trap elements.  I really don't know how else to describe it. Jungle sounds, funky bass, hi-hats.  Just listen.

Then I came across this wonderful gem.  Kennedy Jones and Soul Define collab on the smooth lounge grind.  Enter the sax and the soothing female vocals.  Next it caught me off guard, cuz I coulda swore Atmosphere jumped on the track.  Soul Define.  Killin' everything.

Gotta love it when amazing tracks are free, and as always, Enjoy!

Kennedy Jones Lays Down Massive Buygore Podcast

Finding a good set is easy, finding a great set is hard.   Its nice to see an artist go against the grain and do something he or she wants to do.  Example.  Playing trap music is ultra repetitive, but it also appeases the masses at the moment.  Kennedy Jones, instead, starts his podcast with several minutes of moombahton, followed by a handful of songs that sound much more house-y or trance-y.  Its refreshing.  And its why I want to share this mix.  Additionally, there are some huge tracks on here.  One I'm super excited about is the Suavemente VIP.  Side note, it doesn't even get trappy until 13 mins in.  By then I'm so hyped, I'm ready for the all the trapstep, crumpstyle flexin' in the world.  It's 5:30am.   Imma shut up now.  Enjoy!

Crizzly Got Some F**kin' Problems

An early champion and innovator of "Crunkstep," Crizzly has dropped another banger with his signature sound.  A$AP Rocky's "F**kin' Problem" featuring Drake, 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar has found itself an upgrade (that stands out from the plethora of other remixes.  I'd be lying if I said Crizzly wasn't one of my favorite artists, and I'd also be lying if I said he didn't put on great shows.  I can only imagine how this joint sounds on a real sound system.  As for right now, laptop speakers will have to do.  If you can, sub it up and lemme know how it sounds. Enjoy!

Tree Fiddy? Nah, I Need About 5 & A Dime

Stumbled upon some mashups and bootlegs that made me sit down.  While 3LAU and Kap Slap have a special place in my heart, 5 & A Dime has that stuff I wanna bang in my car.  For example

But that's not all folks.  See, 5 & A Dime brings together throwbacks, with new hits, and seamlessly blends them together with some more current EDM tracks.  A perfect example right here

There's something for everyone.  Whether it's throwback hip-hop, top 40 pop, pop electronic, or dubstep, you can find a fix here.  Enjoy!

Bro Safari & UFO! droppin serious bass (Animal LP)

Seems to be a match made in the dankest trap-house on the block.  Bro Safari & UFO! come together for one of the sickest (free) LPs this year.  LP, not remix pack.  All brand new music.  Drama has already been heard on the dance floors and was featured in Brillz's portion of the Mystical Wonder Tour Mix with Kill The Noise.

10 tracks of bass, bounce, trap, lazers, moombah, and hood stuff.  Also, I was really excited about the drum & bass track that was released on the LP.  I can't do it justice just typing here, so here's the 10 tracks and a link to DL the whole zip file.  Enjoy!

Macklemore Can't Hold Major Lazer's Remix but took Crizzly to the Thrift Shop.

So my favorite white boy rapper right now, Macklemore, has seen great success with his second hit "Can't Hold Us."  Amazing new sounds, especially in the brass department.  But Major Lazer took it one step further with this banger here

Soundcloud > Major Lazer > Macklemore - Can't Hold Us (Major Lazer Remix)

But those who wanted to remix Macklemore weren't done yet.  Another one of my favorite DJs, Crizzly, decided to go Thrift Shopping.  And just like a typical Crizzly joint, this won't leave your headphones.  I'm all about that crunkstep here

Soundcloud > Crizzly - Thrift Shop (Remix)

And until next time, Enjoy!

TAI & Diplo will make that Booty Drop

So if you ain't know, Diplo is one of my favorite DJ's.  His style, his stage presence, and the fact that he finds the best up and comer's in the scene.  Mad Decent/Jeffrees is my go to source for new music.  I found this gem, and I don't know how long it will be free and WAV format but cop it while you can.  Lemme see dat booty drop. Enjoy!

Kill The Noise, Brillz, Black Magic Mystical Wonder Tour & more!

Starting Thursday (March 28, 2013) Kill The Noise, Brillz, Style of Eye, Codes, & special guest 12th Planet will embark on the 27 concert Black Magic Mystical Wonder tour.  After seeing Brillz in Louisville, KY with Heroes x Villains, I can vouch that he alone is worth seeing live.  Also saw 12th Planet when he toured with Skrillex in 2011, and if you can make it to one of the shows he'll be playing at, I would highly suggest it (tour dates listed below):

Besides the gratuitous amounts of music that all of these artists release, including loads of free content, Kill The Noise and Brillz have released a massive Mystical Wonder set.  For Free. Most of these artists' best tracks, mixed together for an hour of amazing.  Check it out right here

Just click the download link in the soundcloud player above ^ and Enjoy!

UFO! and Friends Say "IT'S A TRAP!"

I know I've been gone for a long time, so I decided to come back on a huge release. UFO!'s trap banger "It's A Trap" has just been remixed by 6 huge artists including ETC! ETC!, SPL, and Ookay, and then released for free.

It starts out with ETC! ETC!'s moombahton roots, moves to SPL's heavy dub roots with some trap influences, then into the freshman Ookay's true trap mix. For the record, I didn't know who Silent Killer or Hammo Sung were before this Remix EP. I will say, however, that Silent Killer's remix is undoubtedly my favorite, with Hammo Sung's right behind it. Hammo Sung creates this Trap, Moomba, Tribal House combination of wonderfulness (yea, that's actually I word). CNTRL's is nice and simple, a great transition track for DJs out there.  All in all a great remix package here.  There isn't a track I don't like, which is pretty impressive because I normally have some sort of gripe.  Anyways, enough talking, Enjoy!
